Breyerfest For Beginners!

Welcome to Road To Breyerfest! I'm hoping to help you explore Breyerfest with this document so that you aren't so lost!
Thursday, before the big event, is a big day for RTB members. We usually organize one to two scheduled trips, as well as a meet and greet at the Clarion Hotel in Lexington, Ky. This hotel is about 4-5 miles from KHP and is easily accessible. I do recommend car pooling though as the parking lot fills up quickly and is quite crazy. The hotel is designed by a mad man, I am sure. The levels and room numbers do not match up, so I like to take either a notebook or use my phone camera to remember a room or an area. Make sure that you have cash as most people do not take plastic or paypal. It is a crazy and wild place, so I do say that manners are desperately in need! I have encountered so many rude people that I almost left one year, but I chose to not let them bother me! I do recommend going to the ballroom and viewing the Artisan's Gallery. This collection of resins, customs, and artists is unique and you might just find what you have been looking for in your collection! There is a Peter Stone room that is in the hotel as well!
Between Thursday and Friday, you can always join the line at KHP, if you feel up to the challenge of the Ninja Pit of Death. See the Special file to learn more about that and the lines of Breyerfest.
Breyerfest officially begins at 9am on Friday. The line is long, the crowd intimidating. But there is a second line that allows entrance for those that have an early special run time or do not choose to attend a store immediately. The opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 and are lovely! I encourage you to watch them and show love for your favorite horses!
During the weekend, it is imperative to drink plenty of water, put on tons of sun screen, seek out shade, and eat! Kentucky is hot and humid in the summer, this coming from a year long resident of the Bluegrass. I usually bring a cooler with water, Gatorade, and ice in the trunk of my car and make regular trips to grab a drink. Finding shade is a must during the heat of the day. The covered arena is quite lovely, but the seats fill up fast and the air is only moved by giant overhead fans. Make sure you know your limits and watch yourself closely! RTB admins will gladly help you in line and help save seats.
Pets are allowed at Breyerfest and KHP, but I highly recommend leaving them at home or in the hotel, if they must come with you. It is hot, the pavement csn burn their feet, and there could be an accident if the dog is not happy about crowds. So, I say, let the pup be happy in the AC while you are happy in plastic pony paradise.
The live shows on Friday and Saturday are great to take in and watch, if you are not showing. But do not touch any models and always ask permission before touching, if allowed by an exhibitor. Photos are lovely reminders of the event! And don't forget to talk and ask questions! Hobbyists are fountains of information and be a friend in waiting!
The evening events are great to attend! It’s a relaxing place to sit, a wonderful show to view, and another place to make friends! RTB Admins will attend both showings and are ready to sit with you! Make sure you arrive early in order to find a good place to sit, Grab a bite to eat, and get your camera ready.
Don’t feel intimidated, you will not see everything that you want to see all weekend long. But you will get tired and be beyond excited. I try to post everything that I see that will interest everyone and I will always be on site to help with questions and needing to find somewhere cool to sit down. There are things for all ages there and it is all amazing.
