Orkney, a Single Day Stablemate

Let's welcome Orkney, one of the Single Day Stablemates!

Orkney is an archipelago of the northern coast of Scotland and contains about 70 islands – 20 of which are inhabited.  These islands have incredible history – the village of Skara Brae is Europe’s most well-preserved Neolithic settlement and is believed to have been inhabited from around 3100 BCE.  By the Iron Age, these islands were home to a variety of Pictish tribes living comfortable agricultural lives until the arrival of Norse invaders in the 8^th century.
