Just What Is There To Do At BreyerFest?!

Just What Is There To Do At BreyerFest?

This is an extremely loaded question because there is something for everyone to do during this event. Please note that Breyer has not released any in person event information other than models right now so this Guide is currently based on 2019 and will be edited to match what Breyer releases with their information.
The Covered Arena
BreyerFest starts at the Rolex Gate rather than the Visitor’s Center of the Kentucky Horse Park. When you are at the Rolex Gate, you will see the Covered Arena straight ahead of you as you walk down a lovely corridor that is lined with horse pastures. Inside the Covered Arena, you will find a chaotic array of equine amazingness! From Equine Demonstrations where you will see real horses and learn about them to buying that model that you had your eye on for some time, there is something for everyone. Model horse vendors, real horse tack vendors, model horse tack vendors, and more call the concourse home during the three days of BreyerFest. There is food, drinks, and restrooms located there as well. Do note that it can be hot and humid inside of this arena, but there are some fans that do move the air along. The Breyer Booth is located here as well, which is where you will be able to purchase Raffle tickets for those amazing Raffle models as well as place bids on the Silent Auction lots. The UPS Store is normally located there as well in case that you need to ship your purchases home. This is also where you will find the Breyer Store.
The Breyer Store
The Breyer Store is one of the reasons that you are here, I bet! In this section of the Covered Arena concourse, you will find regular run models, previous Event Models, Club Models from years past, and so much more. At one time, Breyer only placed the more rare items out on Friday Morning, however that is not the case anymore. Items that are more rare are placed out all weekend long with no real time frame on how they are put out (I want to believe that it was every two hours, but I have been proven wrong in the past.) The line for the Breyer Store still queues up before Friday Morning, but that line is absolutely not mandatory. The Breyer Store is where you will find the three Traditional sized Portrait models during BreyerFest weekend.
The Pop Up Stores
In addition to the Breyer Store, Breyer also has another store that caters to the more event themed models and merchandise. This is called the Pop Up Store or Tent and there is normally more than one of them. This is where you will find the more souvenir type models, like the Classic sized model, the Crystal, the Plushie, and more. The exact areas will be posted in the Program.
The Barn Area
This is where the horses that perform in the Equine Demonstrations and the Guest Horses are stabled. At the far end of this barn, close to the parking lot, you will see a tent. That tent is normally where you will be able to meet and greet those amazing Guest Horses and get their owner’s autograph. There are certain times listed in the program that you will get during BreyerFest weekend that you will be able to line up and get your photo taken with the horse and have your model signed. Usually there is at least one session per day, but it varies and is up to the horse and the owner, but the schedule is posted on the Program. The exact area will be posted in the Program.
The Warm Up Arena
This Arena behind the Covered Arena is normally where you will find the Stablemate Painting, food trucks, and more. Things have been changing locations, but at one time, this was also home to the Hands On Hobby Demonstrations, Workshops (at one time), and more. The exact locations of the different areas will be posted in the Program.
The Special Run Tent
Located to the side of the Covered Arena, you will find some awesome horse paddocks that have been converted to hold the Special Run tents. Yes, I said tents! The Special Run line is long, like longer than anyone who has not witnessed BreyerFest will believe. In one of the tents, there is the line. Then there is a short walk to another HUGE tent that has the actual models and the check out registers. As soon as we have more knowledge of how the 2022 Special Run Line will work, I will update this section. As of right now, all that I will put is that when you need to be there, be there early. Do not be late or you will miss your spot. Once there, you will line up according to a number drawn by a Breyer employee. Then, in sections, the line will enter the tent where the models are kept. You can only purchase two Special Runs per Special Run ticket and they cannot be the same type! Once you have your two models, you head to the register to pay. Breyer only accepts Cash or Cards. After you pay, you will exit and find out what you got. There are normally people there, ready and willing to trade for models if you got something that you did not like. But there will be more information about all of that coming soon!
The Visitor’s Center
The Visitor’s Center is a great place to go and cool down. On Friday of BreyerFest, this is where you can normally view the Auction Models before they are sold. The Kentucky Horse Park Gift Shop is there and I totally recommend checking it out! There are normally some movies playing in the two movie theaters as well.
Other Things
Right now, since we do not know exactly where things will be, I will just list the other things that will be happening during BreyerFest. There are workshops that you pay for before BreyerFest (these sell out FAST!!), free seminars, the Diorama Contest, and of course, all of the awesome stuff of the Kentucky Horse Park like the Hall of Champions, the Breeds Barn, and so much more! Many times, there is a horse show that is taking place during BreyerFest as well. Over at the Altech Arena, the Model Horse Shows take place, but I cannot remember if you are allowed to view them happening since many of these models are fragile and the absolute cream of the crop when it comes to plastic ponies. It has not been mentioned yet by Breyer, but the Altech Arena is also where the Celebration Of Horses Evening Performance has happened historically.
So, right now even though we do not have a lot of the information from Breyer, you can see that there is and will be a lot to do at the in person event. Right now, this is all based on 2019 and a lot could change between now and when Breyer will release the information. Please bear with me as we wait for the information to be released. I hope that this has helped!
