Do I Need A Vehicle For BreyerFest?
I will be quickly exploring the ins and outs of transportation around BreyerFest and Lexington Ky. This is not a complete Guide and it really is just information based on my thoughts as a BreyerFest veteran. The answer will come down to what you are comfortable with during this event.
BreyerFest takes place at the Kentucky Horse Park and while this is a large facility, it is actually away from the majority of the hotels in the area. There is one major gas station near it with a restaurant in there, but the rest is all at least a five to ten minute travel from the Park.
Hotels in the area do not offer shuttles to local attractions and the BreyerFest shuttle (if it is indeed running this coming year) will only be running on Friday and Saturday, according to the schedule in 2019. This BreyerFest shuttle runs from the Clarion hotel to the Kentucky Horse park and back. Many people, myself included, will always recommend either driving to Kentucky (if your car can take it) or renting a vehicle once you are here. Many people do offer rides, but these can be sporadic and might not be going where you want to go.
There are a variety of local food places that are not accessible by the shuttle as well. However, there is a bus route in Lexington Ky. I do not currently know this route, but I do know that the Kentucky Horse Park is not included in this route and is located several miles from the last stop.
So, in conclusion, the best advice is that yes, you will need a vehicle for BreyerFest. Cabs and Uber like rides are available, but they could be sporadic as well due to the sheer traffic in the area due to the event. It is best to bring your own vehicle or rent one from a reliable company.
