Let’s Talk BreyerFest...Must Dos During BreyerFest, That Is!

Each year, many people ask what is there do to during BreyerFest or what must you absolutely do during BreyerFest and while the hobby members can sit here and talk your arm off about what we like to experience, it really comes down to what you want to experience.  This post will serve as a list of what there is to do at the Kentucky Horse Park, BreyerFest, and the Clarion Hotel and from there, you can decide exactly what you want to experience.  That is the absolute best thing about BreyerFest, you can personalize your experience in any way that you want!  Please make sure that you are not overplanning your days though! BreyerFest is so much to experience that it is easy to become quickly overwhelmed!

The Kentucky Horse Park

BreyerFest Tickets come with admission to the Kentucky Horse Park and the Museums there.  This is a great opportunity to explore everything that the Kentucky Horse Park has to offer.  From learning about horse breeds to even watching horse shows, there is something for everyone at the Kentucky Horse Park.  The Big Barn is a great place to see many different draft horses and learn about several different horse drawn vehicles.  The Breeds Barn will teach you about different horse breeds and you get to learn a little about those breeds as well during their shows.  The Hall of Champions allows you to visit with famous race horses as well as see the graves of the time honored champions that call the Kentucky Horse Park their final resting place.  The Smithsonian affiliated International Museum of the Horse is a sight to not be missed.  Make sure to take a stroll through history as you explore how horses have shaped man-kind.  There are typically some real horse shows going on at the same time as BreyerFest as well.  I always recommend going and checking out those awesome horses, they certainly do not mind spectators!

BreyerFest

Of course, at BreyerFest, you will be able to experience BreyerFest itself.  The main event of BreyerFest takes place in the Covered Arena, which it just a short walk from the Rolex Gate and the Parking Lot.  This arena contains the Vendor Marketplace, the Equine Demonstrations, and one of the BreyerFest Stores.  Surrounding the Covered Arena, the rest of the BreyerFest activities are easily within reach.  From Stablemate Painting to learning about the hobby, there are a lot of free things to do at BreyerFest.  There are seminars that are free and available to all ticket holders that take place in the Visitor’s Center as well as the Equus Film Festival.  Workshops and the Model Horse Live Shows are located in the Altech Arena, which is about a fifteen minute walk from the Covered Arena, but a short Shuttle ride from one of the many stops located on the perimeter of BreyerFest.  You will be able to see real horses, talk to their owners, get their owner’s signatures, and of course, find that special plastic horse that you might have been looking for!  Listed below is everything that you can find at BreyerFest split up on where it is located.

The Clarion Hotel

A few miles down the road from the Kentucky Horse Park awaits a treasure trove of all things model horse.  Parking is extremely limited to please consider using the Shuttle Service.  At the Clarion, you will be able to go from room to room, exploring what people are offering for sale or trade.  There are no times associated with the Room Sales, if the door is open then just walk inside.  Remember to always be kind and courteous and watch those backpacks!

At the Clarion, there is also several Breyer sponsored events.  On Thursday, there is the Resin Renaissance Model Horse Show, the Artisan’s Gallery, and the first night of the swap meet.  On Friday, you have the Artisan’s Gallery and the second night of the swap meet.  On Saturday, you have the last day of the Artisan’s Gallery.  And Sunday, there are no Breyer sponsored activities.  A full schedule of all of the Breyer sponsored activities has been posted and will definitely be posted again as we get closer to the event. Also, on Thursday before BreyerFest, Will Call will be located at the Clarion Hotel so that you are able to pick up your BreyerFest Tickets, if they were not sent to your location or you are picking up tickets for someone else.

So that is a break down of everything that is available during BreyerFest.  I hope that this has helped you start to plan out your BreyerFest Adventure!  Make sure to not over plan your days and just explore! That has always been the advice that was given to me and the advice that I pass on the most.
